FAQ's

What we supply and what you bring

What we supply and what you bring

What type of fish are caught?

We target Salmon (Chinook, Coho, Pink, and Atlantic), Trout (Lake, Rainbow/Steelhead, Brown) and Walleye. Weights can range from 2 to 25+ pounds.

How many people do you take?

We accommodate up to 3 people MAX (not including our crew). Smaller groups give you more time on the rod as well as give us space to work.

Do you fish in the rain? What happens when the weather is bad?

We do fish in the rain and many times these days will be our most successful. We are able to keep protected from the elements in our covered cockpit (bimini top/enclosure curtains). Be sure to check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. The wavemaster is very safe and built to handle the weather with state of the art marine navigation and communication equipment. Your captains have over 60 years combined experience boating in all weather conditions. High waves, lightning and other dangerous weather will keep us at the dock. We constantly monitor the weather while on the water, checking radar, weather forecasts and monitoring VHF radio weather alerts. Your safety is our first priority and we want you to have a great experience on the water.

What is your cancellation policy?

GBFC Cancellation Policy;

Cancellations with 7 days or more notice can rebook to another date or receive a full refund less 15% service charge. Cancellations with less than 7 days notice, but more than 24 hours notice, will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made within 24 hours or less, as well as “no shows” are non-refundable.
Cancellations made by the captain due to weather are fully refundable or credited for a future booking. All weather cancellations are at the sole discretion of the captain.

Do I need a Fishing Licence?

Every person 18 years and over requires a fishing licence as per the province of Ontario. You will need to purchase your licence prior to launch and have it on you.  There are some exceptions listed on the Ministry Website. For example fishing free days. See our "helfpuf links" at the bottom of this page.

Can I keep the fish I catch?

Yes, as long as the catch is in full compliance with the Ministry of Natural Resources guidelines.

Are fish guaranteed?

We only make promises that we can keep. We have over 20 rods on board and use many different techniques based on conditions and time of year. We are also on the water every day the weather allows. Regardless, there is still only so much we can control and some days are slower than others. From 2017 to 2022 we only got "skunked" (No fish landed) on 2 trips. It's called fishing, not catching, but we do everything in our power to stay catching during every charter! No fish is safe!

 Is your business insured?

Yes, we are fully insured and registered through Transport Canada.

Do you allow alcohol on board?

We strive to run a successful business by being honest in everything we do. It is against the law to consume alcohol while on our vessel and therefore, we do NOT allow it. This isn’t a ‘Booze Cruise’; we are here to catch fish!

What if I get sea sick or I need to get back to shore for some reason?

If you happen to become seasick while on a charter it is up to you if you would like to return to the dock. We will gladly take you back to shore, but due to the limited number of days in the season, we cannot offer any refunds for having to return to the dock early. (Except if the captain calls the trip due to weather). Unfortunately, the weather is outside of our control and everyone has a unique threshold of tolerance. Some people feel it 1 to 2 ft seas.

Can I bring my kids?

If parents feel that their children are ready and will get enjoyment from the trip, then yes. It is big water and big equipment, so we recommend over 9 years of age minimum. Note: 3 people is the MAX regardless if children or adults.

How do we book the trip?

Click on book now and complete our online booking system. Once confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email with all the details for your trip.

Do you mix charters?

No. Our charters are private, meaning it is just our crew and your group.
